Liczba miejsc pracy wymagających kreatywności, innowacji oraz empatii wzrośnie, podobnie jak zapotrzebowanie na umiejętności informatyczne”. Co więcej, „około 40% pracowników będzie musiało przekwalifikować się w ciągu sześciu miesięcy lub wcześniej”. Business Udemy potwierdza ten trend przez tzw. „wskaźnik Up/Re-skilling”, który wzrósł z 14% w 2019 r. do 38% w 2020 r.

To zjawisko jest zarówno szansą, jak i zagrożeniem dla firm – w zależności od tego, jak szybko uda im się zamknąć tzw. „skill gap” oraz zarządzić obecnymi i nowymi pracownikami pod kątem tzw. „upskilling” czy „reskilling” albo samej rekrutacji. To jest także szansa, jak i zagrożenie dla przedstawicieli departamentów HR, rekruterów oraz doradców działających na rynku; by uplasować się w czołówce ekspertów, wymagana jest wiedza m.in. o typologii pracowników pod kątem zaangażowania i rozwoju kompetencji, by w jak najbardziej efektywny sposób zaprojektować nowe ścieżki kariery i dopasować odpowiednio profile.
