25+ years of work experience – program status

  • For candidates who…
have been unsuccessfully looking for a job for over 9 months,
  • have sent dozens of CVs and received no responses,
  • have heard feedback like, “Your competences and experience are impressive, but unfortunately your age works against you”,
  • have lost hope even though they are “doing everything they can”…

… we launched an “individual outplacement” program in June 2024 as part of our CSR activities. Its aim was to support 5 people who began an intensive job search process with our help at the beginning of August.

What was the recruitment process like?

The huge interest confirmed the scale of the problem – our LinkedIn event attracted 480 people, and 67 candidates filled out the application form. After an initial selection, 53 people were asked to prepare a CV compliant with ATS requirements, using our guide. The task was completed by 47 people of whom we invited 34 candidates to individual meetings on Google Meet. During the interviews, we analyzed not only compliance with the program criteria, but also the professional situation, motivation and capabilities of the participants. The key requirements were:

  • at least 25 years of experience,
  • looking for a job for at least 9 months,
  • a clearly defined and realistic professional goal,
  • knowledge of English on a level sufficient for work.

The applications were full of moving stories that highlighted the challenges of today’s job market. After careful consideration, we selected 5 individuals who met our criteria and demonstrated a strong willingness to work hard. Each participant committed to dedicate 4-5 hours per day to the program.

Selected reflections

Companies often look for “unicorns” – describing an ideal candidate who simply does not exist. Now I know that if I meet 70% of the requirements, I can confidently apply, instead of waiting for job ads where I have a 90% or higher match.

When creating a list of companies, I realized I was too picky – assessing a company based solely on its website can be misleading. What looks good (or bad) online does not always reflect reality. It is worth attending an interview and only then deciding whether we “fit”.

Without the knowledge I gained, I wouldn’t have been able to create a proper CV. Job hunting is like a competitive sport, where every detail matters.

Networking requires precision – an unclear message can lead to misunderstandings or even discourage someone from helping. It is crucial to clearly define your needs and goals.

Even friends need to be asked for help – you can’t assume they will figure out what you need on their own. Specific messages are key.

Each session was an eye-opener for me. I gained knowledge that I could immediately apply – whether in creating a CV or in the way I communicate. I learned to say clearly, “I want X,” not “Maybe, if it works out…”

A large database is essential – the job search process is all about statistics.

During the session, I realized that proper file formats and avoiding graphics in CVs are crucial for ATS. These details can determine whether you move on to the next stage.

Working with Career Angels allowed me to look at the situation from a different perspective, discover new opportunities, and successfully return to the job market. The professionalism and support I received were crucial to my success.

We would like to thank all participants for their commitment and trust. The reflections highlight how important precision, strategy, and openness are in the job search process. We are glad that we could walk this path together and we are keeping our fingers crossed for your success in finding your dream job!

PS. More about the entire program

The program in the “individual outplacement” format includes 6 sessions during which the Career Angel (dedicated consultant) works with the selected individual on a personalized job search strategy and its implementation. The aspects that participants focus on include:
application documents (CV, CV adapted to ATS systems),
– list of headhunters and potential employers,
– job interview preparation,
online presence, including LinkedIn,
networking skills, etc.

Before each session, the participant receives reading materials and “homework” to complete. After each session, they leave with specific materials, knowing exactly what to do next and how to do it.
