Looking back at 2016, we definitely did not sit back & rest, we shared our knowledge with over 700 professionals from various industries, MBA students & graduates, expats, etc. across 14 lectures, webinars and workshops. It was a truly productive year and we can’t wait to do even more in 2017!

1st quarter 2016:

Job Hunting in an International / Intercultural Settings – Some Do’s and Don’t’s for Success

Career Angels were invited as a guest speaker to highlight the cultural intricacies of job hunting across borders & talk about differences when looking for a job in another country/culture, do’s and don’ts, and tips for success.

Job Search in a new country: getting back on the job market
@ International Women’s Group of Warsaw Meeting
The Meeting gathered ca. 50 expat women in Poland. Sandra Bichl talked about her own experience of living abroad in 10 different countries: being an expat, expat’s wife, business owner, employee, to show the audience how to (re)define their professional selves and get back onto the job market.

Career Patterns – why are you (not) satisfied with your job?

The event focused on showing a wide range of possible options when it comes to implementing changes into your professional life. Career Angels talked about career patterns, incl. career concept and motives, which were an eye-opener for all the participants. To read more about the theory, click here.

Interview traps & how to avoid them

Career Angels conducted a workshop on interviews: the tandem Sandra & Anna role-played and discussed interview questions with the audience, e.g. “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”, “What are your strengths?”, “What do you expect from your potential boss?” etc.

2nd quarter 2016:

Career Angels opened a cycle of 3 career-management related workshops with a lecture on: 1) the future of the job market & the main drivers of its trends; 2) career patterns & how they influence job dissatisfaction; 3) job hunting strategy & methods.

How can HR be more strategic?
@ HR Business Breakfast
In co-operation with a leading Executive Search firm and a boutique consulting firm a select group of experienced HR professionals was invited to informally discuss the trending HR topics, e.g. “How can HR be more strategic?”.

CEO in Transition
@ CEO Breakfast
Career Angels co-moderated a CEO breakfast with a leading Executive Search firm. The platform gave CEOs the opportunity to confidentially and openly discuss their career strategies, struggles and challenges.

Will you get a 2nd chance for a 1st impression?

Career Angels held a workshop for experienced Sales Managers and CEOs about the importance of online presence, in particular how to influence their online “visibility”, “professionalism” and “connectivity”, and what the most important do’s and dont’s are when it comes to LinkedIn.

The Hidden Job Market

The more executive you are, the less effective online job ads get when it comes to job search. So, how to find a job if the basic tool stops working? Career Angels discussed how to access the Hidden Job Market via direct applications, headhunters and own contacts.

…that was the question we asked the attendees. We discussed the importance of their online presence, irrespectively of whether they were actively or passively searching for new opportunities. Additionally, we went through all sections of a LinkedIn profile to get it right.

During an open lecture at WUT Business School, Career Angels held a lecture for prospect MBA students. We talked about the intersection of the future of the job market, the participant’s career patterns and sought after competencies.

Master Interview

Career Angels focused on how to master interview techniques; differentiating headhunters from potential employers. We role-played and discussed interview questions with the audience like “Please tell me about yourself”, “What are your salary expectations?”, “What are your strengths and weaknesses?”.

4th quarter 2016:

Interview Workshops

Career Angels held 2 interview workshops for selected groups of members of Polish Association of Brokers and Investment Advisers. During the 2-hour workshops they answered the most niggling questions about interviews & explained how to go about them to land a job.

Job Hunting Strategy

A lecture in Vienna sharing tips, insights and statistics on job hunting methods and job hunting strategy: defining your ideal job, assessing your strengths from prospective employers’ point of view, preparing flawless application documents (including CVs) & generating job offers.

The above lectures & workshops were conducted by these Career Angels:

Sandra Bichl
Sandra started her international career in recruitment in June 2002 in Budapest, Hungary at TMP Worldwide (now Hudson) in the Legal Recruitment Department that has become Legalis. She has worked with executives in CEE while being based in both Budapest and Warsaw, Poland. In June 2010 after a 2-year break in recruitment (Sales & Marketing Manager in Latin America), Sandra decided to change, though not moving in-house, but to what she likes calling “the third side” of the recruitment process: supporting executives in their job hunting process. Sandra works in English, Polish, German and Spanish. She also speaks Portuguese and French.

Anna Zadrożna
While completing her Master Studies in Psychology at the Warsaw University, Anna Zadrożna started at the recruitment firm Hudson in 2001 focusing on sectors like pharma, (heavy) industry, construction, IT and FMCG. Anna left in 2006 to first become a Senior HR Specialist at LOT, then an HR Manager at BDO, followed by IDEA bank, then – HR Development Manager at Getin Holding SA, and finally – HR Projects Director at PKP Intercity SA. In the meantime Anna completed two post-graduate studies at the Kozminski University: “Managing professional competences of employees” and “Professional Coaching”. Anna started cooperating with Career Angels in December 2011. Anna works in Polish and English.

Izabela Michaliszyn
Izabela started her career in Hudson in 2001. She worked on Talent Management assignments with Polish and international companies (energy, production, FMCG, finance, pharma) supporting Middle, Senior and Top Management. Her main focus was Outplacement Programs. In 2011, she moved to Bigram, to further develop Outplacement and Talent Management programs. She joined Career Angels in 2016. She has published a number of articles on HR-related issues. Izabela works in English and Polish.
